How to play?

How does the game work?

Revvs.net Motorsport Pick'em lets you show your smarts by picking the top eight finisher of each of this year's Formula 1, NASCAR and MotoGP racing events.

All you have to do is pick the top 8 finishers in each Formula 1, NASCAR and MotoGP race. Each of the 8 picks then scores a point according to how close that picks was to the actual finishing position and this will determine your position for that particular racing event. These points will also contribute to the series championship at the end of the season.

How are points calculated?

Points are calculated depending on how close your picks are to the actual finishing position. Points are calculated according to the following table:

« Actual Position
Pick 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 *
1 10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1 0
2 7 9 7 4 3 2 1 1 0
3 3 6 8 6 3 2 1 1 0
4 1 3 5 7 5 3 1 1 0
5 1 1 2 4 6 4 2 1 0
6 1 1 1 1 3 5 3 1 0
7 1 1 1 1 1 2 4 2 0
8 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 0

Example:
Driver picked to finish 1st. Actual finish 1st: 10 points
Driver picked to finish 3rd. Actual finish 2nd: 6 points

If a player picks all correct, then that player will receive the maximum points for that event: 52

The points scored for each of the 8 picks are added together to give your overall score for that event. In the event of a tie the player who scored the most points for their 1st place pick will be ranked ahead, if this is equal then the second placed pick will be used until a difference is found. In the event of all 8 picks scoring the same the players will be ranked as equal.

Each individual race scores points for the player according to their ranking. The points are awarded according to the following table.

1st 100 2nd 90 3rd 85 4th 80 5th 75 6th 70 7th 65 8th 60 9th 58 10th 56
11th 54 12th 52 13th 50 14th 48 15th 46 16th 44 17th 42 18th 40 19th 38 20th 36
21st 34 22st 32 23rd 30 24th 28 25th 26 26th 25 27th 24 28th 23 29th 22 30th 21
31st 20 32nd 19 33rd 18 34th 17 35th 16 36th 15 37th 14 38th 13 39th 12 40th 11
41st 10 42nd 9 43rd 8 44th 7 45th 6 46th 5 47th 4 48th 3 49th 2 50th 1

Example:
If you were placed 3rd in the race you would receive 85 points towards your championship total.
In the event of two players being ranked equal in an event they will both receive an equal amount of championship points, e.g. if two players are ranked equal 2nd they will both receive 90 points, there will be no 3rd place points awarded.

Series Championship The players with the highest score at the end of the season are the championship winners. In the event of a tie on points the player with the most wins will be ranked ahead, in the event of number of wins being equal the number of second places is used and so on until a result is found.

You just need to play in 10 for Formula 1, 15 for NASCAR, 10 for MotoGP race events to be eligible for the overall series championship. Even if you take part in more race events your top 10 for Formula 1, 15 for NASCAR and 10 for MotoGP races count for your overall series championship.

What happens if the race finish order is adjusted after the race?

Race events winners are based on the race finish order immediately following the race. If the race finish order is adjusted after the race, the race events winners will remain the same but all players' points will be recomputed for the season total.

What do I get if I win?

As of now there are no prizes in revvs.net motorsport Pick'em.

You are, however, still fighting to end atop the standings over friends, colleagues and game players from across the globe.

What are the pick deadlines?

The deadline to submit your final picks is the morning of the race day. You can change your picks as many times as you wish up to the deadline however you will not be able to submit picks after the deadline.

Pickem for the next race will open immediately after the current race is over.

What if I forget to pick for a particular event?

If you don't enter any picks for a given race event, you won't score any points for that particular race event.

What happens if a driver/rider changes after I made the picks?

Points are awarded to drivers/riders, not cars/bikes. If a player picks a driver/rider who qualified for race and a new driver/rider took his/her place before the start of the race, the player must pick the new driver/rider. Players will not receive points even though the new driver/rider may be racing the previous driver's car/rider. And, if the new driver/rider is not in the list of drivers/rider that can be picked then no players shall have the ability to pick that driver/rider and it will not count for or against anyone. We may also alert you by email if in case there are any driver/riders changes.

The season has already started. Can I still play?

Yes. You could however win in a race event for any race event that you play.
